Niah Caves became the park was gazetted in 1974 involving the tropical rain forests and limestone hills that form the cave area of 3.100 hectares. The discovery of the skeleton (homo sapiens) is believed to 40,000 years ago at the door of the Niah Caves in 1957 and the discovery of ancient cave paintings Black Cloth allows it to be gazetted as a National Historic Monument in 1958.
Advantage of working in Sarawak gave me the opportunity to visit the Niah Caves. To get to the Niah Caves is not as challenging as the bridge / wooden platform was built as far as 5 km as pedestrian walkways to the visitors. However, the situation is extremely pitch dark when it comes to the cave requires you to be aware of every step. You may fall due to slippery paths and groping in the dark. Travel 10 km to go back to get to the Niah Caves from the park entrance also requires stamina. RM10 fee applies to all visitors to enter this Niah national park complex.
In addition to the Niah Caves, there are other caves in the park complex that Angus holes, holes Bones, Gan Kira and Black Cloth. Several local Iban tribe involved in selling souvenirs and drinks other than the pursuit of a bird's nest along the path to the Niah Caves.
